Alexander Picton Brereton

Alexander Picton Brereton (13 November 1892 – 10 January 1976) was a Canadian recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.

He was the son of a Manitoba farmer, Cloudesley Picton Brereton〔Oak River Post 28 Sept 1921〕 and Annie Frazer Black. He married Mary Isabel McPhee on 17 Jun 1925 and had three children. He was a barber. Brereton joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force in January 1916.〔(Canadian Great War Project )〕
